During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa closed temporarily as did many other businesses. Lucy’s loyal clients rallied in support and donated to an Employee Relief Fund to help support Lucy’s Arfin’ Awesome associates through those uncertain times.
“Our clients were there when we needed them the most,” said Max Golman, owner of Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa. “Now that we are back on all four paws, we are so excited to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need by paying 100% of our client’s generous donations forward to San Antonio’s animal rescue’s.
Now that Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa is PUP and running and open to the public, Lucy’s engaged their clients through a survey on how they wanted the funds distributed. In an overwhelming decision, a large portion of the funds were directed towards animal organizations throughout the city of San Antonio.
On July 8, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa donated $7,200 across six local animal shelters, including Animal Care Services, Animal Defense League, God’s Dogs, Roxy’s K-9 Rescue, San Antonio Humane Society, and San Antonio Pets Alive, to highlight their tireless work for San Antonio pets in need.
Also, present for the donations were some long-time loyal clients of Lucy’s, Sherri Icke and Jeanne and David Seldner, who have formed great relationships with Max and the staff.
“Lucy’s is family, and Max, along with his crew, provide clients and their pets with such wonderful services in a safe place,” Icke said. “When Max put out the call, there were no questions asked. Families help families and you should always pay it forward in life.”
