+Health, safety and vaccination requirements
Safety is of the utmost importance at Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Spa. For the health and safety of our guests, dogs must have the following:
- To qualify for interactive daycare dogs are required to be spayed or neutered and temperament tested. (Pups younger than 8-months-old needn’t be spayed or neutered.) – Dogs not eligible for interactive daycare may still board and will have a minimum of four and up to six 15 minute leash free spacious back yard rotations.
- Proof of current vaccinations including distemper/parvo and rabies (every year or three years depending on the vaccinations your veterinarian administers) and an annual bordetella.
- If vaccinations are not current, we require a 5-day waiting period for vaccinations to become effective. The waiting period begins the day after the vaccination is administered.
- Grooming requirements are same as above.
- We do not accept home vaccinations, hand written vaccinations, sticker books, pet passports, breeder vaccines and require all vaccinations be administered by a licensed veterinarian.
- Puppies must be over the age of 16 weeks and have had their puppy boosters. We require at least 1 distemper/parvo booster and annual vaccine, a current rabies vaccine and an annual bordetella. Once they receive their last booster/vaccine, there is a 5-day waiting period before they can come join in on the fun.
- In the event that your dog does not receive the distemper/parvo or rabies vaccinations (for health reasons/immunity), a “titer test” will need to be performed by your veterinarian. There is no “titer test” for the Bordetella, and will need to administered as required. A copy of the “titer test” results is required before coming in for any services.
- Lucy’s highly recommends the Bivalent Canine Influenza Vaccine (H3N2 and H3N8) yearly. Please note that initially this is a boostered vaccine (boosters are 3-4 weeks apart).
- The following breeds are not eligible for interactive daycare: Pit Bull or Pit Bull mixes, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Bull Dog, Shar Pei, Dogo Argentino, Presa Canario, Fila Brasileiro, as well as dogs mixed with these breeds. Wolves or Wolf hybrids are not permitted for any services.
- Dogs that are Heartworm positive or undergoing Heartworm treatment are not permitted for any services. Once the treatment for Heartworms is complete, veterinary recommendation is to wait 6 months before testing for Heartworms to avoid a false positive. Once your pup is clear of Heartworms, they are permitted to use the services at Lucy’s.
- Non-spayed females that are in Heat or pregnant females are not permitted for any services.
- For the safety of your dogs, non-spayed females and non-neutered males, over the age of 8 months cannot board together and will receive separate
individual potty rotations. - Lucy’s is a flea-free environment. If a dog has fleas or other external parasites, the dog will be bathed at the owner’s expense.
- Due to our primary concern with each dog’s health and safety, dogs with the following health conditions are not eligible for boarding or daycare at Lucy’s and are recommended to board with a veterinary hospital for specialized care: seizures, insulin dependent diabetes, incontinence, heartworms, chagas, dogs who are immobile/wheelchair bound, dogs with megaesophagus, dogs currently undergoing chemotherapy and immunocompromised dogs. The same applies for our grooming services with the exception of insulin dependent dogs, they are permitted for grooming.
-
For safety, dogs taking any type of heart medication will be evaluated on a case by case basis and need to sign a waiver to be eligible for any services and interactive play. Dogs with congestive heart failure are not eligible for interactive play and will receive individual potty rotations.
- Due to the fragile nature of pups under 6 pounds and the elevated risk of injury due to rough play, pups under 6 pounds may not be eligible for interactive play and may be taken on a minimum of 4 and up to 6 individual potty rotations. The determination will be made at store level and may fluctuate depending on the dynamics of the playgroup.
- Pups 9 years or older may be placed on our limited playtime (traditional limited play hours are 7:30am-10am and 3:30pm-5pm). The determination will be made at store level.
- In an effort to not disrupt your pups digestive process, all pups PAWticipating in interactive play will be fed during our brunch feeding. Pups requiring food for medical reasons will be accommodated.
