This month is National Foster a Pet Month. In the spirit of continuing Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa is so excited to announce an onsite foster program in conjunction with God’s Dog Rescue and the San Antonio Humane Society.

Lucy’s onsite foster program will alleviate pressure from rescue organizations, prepare dogs for adoption by enriching their lives with compassionate care, enhancing socialization skills, regular exercise, and plenty of fun while they await their new forever home. All three of Lucy’s locations will soon have a pup in foster waiting for a forever home. Be on the lookout for a Lucy’s Foster Pups link on our web page in the near future.

The first pup we would like to introduce is the beautiful Husky, Luna. On March 7th, 2020, God’s Dogs Rescue received a tip two pups left in the yard of an abandoned house when the previous owners moved out. Worried, the dogs would get hit by a car, a neighbor reached out to God’s Dogs Rescue for help. God’s Dogs Rescue’s dynamic duo Ginny & Caley Cunningham enlisted the help of Lucy’s Doggy Daycare and Lucy’s dad Max Golman. Ginny was aware the pup was very skittish, so she came prepared with an irresistible steak burger from Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. Caley and Max entered the abandoned house’s backyard to find a weakened pup covered in fleas. Max worked to build trust by talking gently to her and slowly feeding her small portions of Freddy’s steakburger. Max said, “it was almost as if she was relieved we were there and put her fate in our hands.” Covered in fleas, Max and Caley took Luna to Lucy’s Downtown self-serve dog wash, where they immediately gave her a Capstar to kill all the fleas and gave her a much-needed massage bath.

Luna has had a wellness exam and vaccinations from Hill Country Animal League, who has worked closely with God’s Dog’s Rescue to help the homeless dogs of San Antonio. Luna is now staying at Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa’s Downtown location. She is living her best life, getting lots of love from the Arfin Awesome Lucy’s team by day, and sleeping in a luxury suite by night. She has been having an absolute blast romping in the park, playing in the pool, and making so many new friends! As much fun as Luna is having; we want her to have a forever home!
